Summary
What does this car say about you?
Hopefully that I have at last developed the age and wisdom to have chosen a decent car!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone who sees it or rides in it simply loves it. It's the first car I have ever owned which people have complimented!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, because it's simply the best car I have ever owned. (I have owned one or two brand new executive cars in my time as well and this second hand Mercedes CLK beats them all by miles).
What are you likely to buy next?
That's an easy question to answer. Another Mercedes Benz.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,000
When did you buy the car?
April 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, got a great trade-in deal on my 2004 Ford Focus and the Dealer made good all the tiny imperfections I found on the CLK220 before I took delivery of it.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Hired a Mercedes Benz from a well known national car hire company the previous year and was highly impressed by the overall Merc' package! Had never driven a Merc' before that.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent in every way.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's a dream. There's plenty of torque if needed and it's pretty quiet for a diesel. The steering is responsive and accurate and the ESP contour braking system will minimise side slip and skidding automatically in difficult driving conditions.
What's it like to park?
Simplicity itself by using the front and rear parking sensors and the internal front and rear light bar guidance displays and non-intrusive final warning buzzer.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
One front parking sensor had an intermittent fault. I fitted a brand new Bosch / Mercedes replacement Sensor for £20 and all is well.
What's most practical about your car?
Everything together make this car like driving a cloud with a jet engine. It can drive like a sports car of a limousine, depending on what mood you're in.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The whole suite of gadgets and accessories are superbly engineered and simply ooze quality. Automatic and manual gear selection with sports mode, comprehensive cruise control from the steering wheel stalk, incredible quality sound system, responsive and quiet window motors etc etc. My "favourite" feature would be difficult to select. It's the whole lot together that make this a car I wish I'd known about years ago.
