Mercedes-Benz CLK Coupe (2002 - 2009) 320 Avantgarde 2d Tip Auto Owner Review

In their own words
I bought this as a run-around whilst I was remotely deployed for work (as an alternative to a lease hire on car allowance), and it hasn't disappointed.
Joining the MB Owners Club gains you access to the Daimler Benz maintenance manuals electronically (bargain!), which allows you to diagnose and sort many simple faults yourself, and to recognise anything which might require garage intervention more easily.
The MB Owners Club also has a wealth of help and advice a board message away.
This is a fun car to drive, makes a joyful noise when you tap your toe and looks decent. With a cheap private plate it doesn't look out of place in the office car park.
Surprised by the luggage space; I managed to transport my weightlifting equipment, including bench, squat rack, weights, bars and bits, with the seats down and the passenger seat forward all the way from Scotland without issue. Even with all of the extra weight it barely affected the mpg.
Don't expect frugality on short runs and around town though - it regularly drops down to low double figures mpg popping to the shops.
Pick one with the 18" alloys, as the standard 16" rims look too small.
Tyres last around 20k miles and brake disks and pads around 40k (according to the comprehensive history I received with the car).B Service costs around £350 @ MB main dealer + ~£50 for MOT.
Don't try and fit an aftermarket stereo - the wiring appears standard DIN but really is not, and if you have the fibre optic system fitted it just isn't worth the hassle. Much easier and cheaper to fit a Bluetooth transceiver to the aux socket and gain extra functionality (including satnav integration) that way.
