In their own words
No where near the quality I would expect. I owned this car an e220 premium for 4 years. In that time I had 2 issues with the headlights which failed (one within one year, and one after 3 years). It was only because I had an extended warranty that I avoided a £2,500 bill for a new headlight supply and fit on both occasions. My steering wheel material started to wear through at 30,000 miles and this was rejected as a warranty claim at the 3 year point due to being “wear and tear”. The material literally has worn through to the layer beneath. I was quoted £2,500 for supply and fit of a new steering wheel. The sat nav constantly froze and I was told the car would need to be in for a full day for a reset and this wasn’t under warranty either. I always serviced it at main dealer, and had the dealer extended warranty for the last 2 years.
It was comfortable to drive, and I really liked the looks. I found the servicing costs astronomical for what is a rather basic 2 liter diesel engine. The engine itself however was incredibly reliable with no issues at all and great economy.
In the end I got rid of it when it reached 5 years old, it felt like a huge money pit that was about to get even worse.
