What does this car say about you?
That you value quality German engineering. The W124 was renowned as the last 'great' Mercedes.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They thought it looked great. Shame I wasn't so enamoured with it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. If it had the more powerful 300 turbodiesel engine from the later E class, it would be great (except for it's enormous length) but I really didn't enjoy being overtaken by hooting buses at traffic lights.
What are you likely to buy next?
Already got it - Peugeot 306 cabriolet.

What was the dealer like?
Mercedes main agents were excellent, even helped me to trace the car's service history!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good on motorways. Around town - slooow, slooow, oh so slooow! Acceleration was so poor it used to annoy bus drivers if it was in front of them!
What's it like to park?
Good visibility, but won't fit into normal car parking spaces because it is so long.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Steering lock. Nothing else, but constantly lived in fear of the expensive-to-replace electro-mechanical luxury features going wrong.
What's most practical about your car?
Enormous carrying capacity. Economical for such a huge car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Bonnet emblem!
