Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate E300 D 5d (1994/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A £39,500 car, bought for £7,750 at 99,000 miles. Now worth say £5,000 at 140k - excellent value.
Costs
Servicing probably slightly less than comparable premium manufacturers.
-
On the road
Driving
Not quite as wieldy as the saloon, but still great to drive.
Performance
22-28 mpg. You have to work the gearbox to find the serious accelleration.
-
Living with it
Reliability
At over 140,000 miles, never misses a beat. Still serviced by MB main agents.
Image
What other 10 year old car still cuts a dash like these?
Comfort
Superb ride on original wheels/tyres. Less so on retro fit alloys and (slightly) lower profile larger tyres. Self levelling rear suspension means it tackles speed humps with great aplomb!

Security and Service
Service
MB main agents offer discounted labour rates for older cars, but still treat you as if you owned a new model.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Slight weep on head gasket.
Other
Uneven tyre wear on front wheels despite accurate tracking/wheel alignment.
