Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 22 - 41 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The estates mix practicality with good looks and elegance and are popular with buyers. Despite slow depreciation and long term E-Class value, owners should be prepared for big bills. Even at independent dealers, servicing is pricey and parts expensive, but essential to keep the E-Class feel of indestructibility. Insurers don’t look on it kindly either: insurance groups start at 13.

Expect high standards of reliability from your E-Class. Few problems are reported other than the occasional niggle but standards of servicing will determine the future dependability you can expect.
