Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate (2016 - 2023) E400d 4Matic AMG Line Night Ed Prem+ 9G-Tronic 5d Owner Review

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I bought the E400d as on paper these offer similar performance to an E53 AMG but with more sensible running costs.
The diesel engine makes as good a noise as can be expected from a diesel, and on long runs gets into the 40s without much difficulty. I think you would need to drive it fairly sedately to get into the 50s like some owners claim.
It is a great motorway machine. Quiet, smooth engine and plenty of torque. The in gear performance is notably very strong but it can be a little disappointing from a standstill. Apparently common of faster diesels. Certainly though it will keep up with or outpace modern hot hatches quite easily…at least in a straight line.
As for the rest of it; typical e class estate. It just does everything you expect of that package well.
The only thing I would warn of are the 20” wheels. I have done 30k miles and I have never had to replace tyres because they are worn out. Instead I have been through six front tyres due to failures. The wheels hold up ok against pot holes but the tyres do not. They are too small a profile for the road in my opinion and I am at a point where I now pay extra for tyre insurance when I replace them.
How reliable do you find the car?
The car has been mostly flawless aside from having a failure of the DPF system. This was replaced under warranty.
