Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate (2016-2023) verdict

Should you buy one?
Yes. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate may just be the most complete package on sale when it comes to executive estate cars. It’s super-comfortable, feels incredibly high-quality, and there’s something for everybody in the engine range.
Compared with its rivals, the E-Class is more comfortable and relaxing than the BMW 5 Series Touring – though there’s not a great deal in it. We also think it feels more special than the Audi A6 Avant, with technology integrated in such a way that it doesn’t feel quite so overwhelming.
What we like
This is a car that can take the family, all their kit and clobber and still gobble-up a medium-sized antiques fair in the process. It’s certainly practical enough to make you question why anybody bothers with a premium SUV.
What we don’t like
No, the E-Class Estate isn’t cheap – that’s what cars like the excellent Skoda Superb Estate are for. But it is worth the extra outlay.
