Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon 200 E 16V 4d Auto (1993/L) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Very good. I have kept this longer than any car (4 years so far). The new E-Class doesn't measure up on a test drive.
Costs
At this stage, don't use a M-B garage - find a good local mechanic. Parts are expensive, but wear and tear is good which alleviates cost.

On the road
Driving
Wonderful handling for such a big, luxury car. Steering, braking (ABS) and auto box excellent. Can be 'exciting' on snow/ice though.
Performance
E200 underpowered, but not seriously. Very elegant power delivery.

Living with it
Reliability
Excellent. We have shared 80k miles together so far. Replaced water pump at 100k, windscreen wiper and driver's electric window at 130k - now 170k and purring...
Image
Classy, not swanky. Almost timeless 3-box shape appeal. My baby still turns heads when polished.
Comfort
One word - superb.

Security and Service
Security
Better now I've fitted a serious alarm.
Service
Excellent. Was with M-B until 18 months ago, but now use a good local mechanic.
