Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon 220 E 4d Auto (1993/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Fantastic car for the money, two owners, just over 100,000 miles, full main dealer history - with the last bill for £1,100 for £2,400.
Costs
reasonable fuel costs - especially on motorway, made out of granite so things don't wear out, tyres and brakes every 50,000 miles.
-
On the road
Driving
Comfortable, relaxed, grown-up.
Performance
Will travel faster than I want to.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Only reliability problem came from aftermarket Thatcham immobiliser, the car inspires confidence even when it's not 100% you always know it will get you home.
Image
Still looks classy, but it's image is such that you will find other drives letting you out at junctions, something that you would find driving an older BMW.
Comfort
I regularly put in 400 mile round trip days without any backache.

Security and Service
Security
Doesn't attract criminal attention.
Service
Whilst the previous owners spent £1,000's at MB Dealers, my servicing is carried out by local mechanic - the car is sufficiently hi tech to be reliable, but sufficiently lo tech to be serviced at home.

Problems and Ownership
