Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon (2016 - 2023) E220d SE 4d 9G-Tronic Owner Review

In their own words
I have owned E Classes since 1995. The new diesel engine is a big improvement on the previous W212 model, much quieter and more powerful. The ride is smooth, comfortable with hardly any external noise. Instead of realeasing a facelift model every 3 or 4 years Mercedes are now releasing annual improvelment: for instance the widescreen 2 x 12.3 electronic cockpit is now standard in 2019 model, whereas it was an expensive option in the initial release in 2016. Same with 40:20:40 fold down rear seats,18 inch wheels etc. The drive is really nice and the technology so extensive you really need to read the manual. The Linguatronic Voice Control system has been improved so there is less need for manual manipulation of the multimedia controls. I had considered moving back to a BMW 5 Series, but decided the current E Class was better value and better ineterior comfort.
Downsides: The manuals (online, in car, hardback and App) don't seem to have been updated since 2016 to reflect changes in controls and features since 2016. At the moment I am not doing many miles per month and thus I am finding the battery is losing its charge from full to partial and needs the help of a charger/maintainer, but this is down to my personal circumstances and minimal use of the car at the moment. I tried out both the AMG Line and SE models, and found the seats in the SE more comfortable, an improvement on the seats in my W212 Avantgarde (2012)
Overall: I am very pleased, have no regrets, and will probably keep this vehicle for 5 + years
