Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV EQC 400 AMG Line auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Ignore WLTP figures on any EV car, I used a 70% of wltp as my ‘expected’ real life range and pleased to say this car will easily deliver this even midwinter night driving at motorway speeds. I have managed overall long term economy of 2.8 mpkwh, and up to 3.1 on a long 480 mile motorway journey. Heating or air on use will deplete around 30miles of range from a full charge, so I don’t leave on all the time, just use it to get car warm/cool enough or demisted when raining then knock it off until needed again (this will of course also improve economy in any ICE powered vehicle too). This one is the AMG line, so the second model up in the range, but without the additional niceties of the premium or premium plus models, which probably also helps its range… whilst there is plenty enough technology, and the hey Mercedes’ system works well, I like the physical button controls for heating/aircon, nightdriving is easy with the led matrix headlamps, even saving you from blinding oncoming drivers if you are a bit slow knocking the main beam off. Seats are very supportive and comfortable for extended periods in the car, all electric control except actually sliding forward or backward on this model. The ambient lighting system can keep the ‘fiddlers’ engaged for hours, and whilst it’s not anything the car needs, it is nice to be able to set it to a colour or hue you find relaxing. The infotainment system has all the options you need, a very good speaker system with clear sounds and good range for those Audiophiles out there. All in all it’s a car I would most definitely have again, but it would be nice to see it have options for less outright power, you don’t need 408hp/760nm in a daily driver, and a range that would give real world 290/300 miles for me is more beneficial than being able to beat the pocket rocket racers away from the lights, as much fun as that is!
How reliable do you find the car?
In two years it has run virtually faultlessly, with only glitch being on the day it went for first service it decided to enter limp mode (half power, so 200bhp…😂), turned out a wheel sensor had a moment, but self cleared and no other issues with car at all
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Very well spec’s, the ‘hey Mercedes’ verbal system copes well with any internal temp adjustments and destination searches for sat nab, as well as asking it to call people from your linked phone. The general road holding, and performance is exceptional, most comfortable car I have ever driven
