Mercedes-Benz EQT verdict
Should you buy one?
On paper, the Mercedes-Benz EQT is a sensible family MPV with a good range and adequate space for a small family. Unfortunately, it’s hard to justify the price tag for a re-worked Renault Kangoo as away from the key areas it really doesn’t feel like a car worthy of the Mercedes EQ badge.
While badge sharing with Renault may be acceptable for a van, in a pricey electric car with a premium badge on the front it doesn’t marry-up well. You get a similar experience driving the small electric family car equivalents from Stellantis (Citroen e-Berlingo and Peugeot e-Rifter), at a fraction of the price, and none of the pretext of it being a premium model when it isn’t.
There’s also a strong case for the ICE alternatives from Volkswagen and Ford which offer more in terms of trimand engine choice at a vastly more affordable price. If you really do want a zero-emission family car, there are SUVs that do it better than the EQT.
