Should you buy one?

There are two reasons to buy an EQV, comfort and badge. We’d argue that the Citroen e-Spacetourer and its Peugeot and Vauxhall siblings offer almost as much space and versatility, but they don’t have the cachet and can’t travel anywhere near as far on a charge.

The EQV is a solid contender, but a little more range wouldn’t hurt.

There’s no doubting the Mercedes feels far more luxurious inside and it’s comfier when fitted with air suspension. However, the eye-watering price tag means they’re a hard sell unless you really must go electric and need masses of space.

What we like

The EQV is a breeze to drive, has all the space you could ever need and is stylish and luxurious enough to keep all noses lowered. The cabin is a comfortable and premium environment in which you could easily spend a lot of time – driver or passenger.

What we don’t like

At just shy of a hundred grand in top spec, this is a very, very expensive van. While loaded with driver aids to keep you on the road, the EQV’s mute steering and fairly clumsy handling dynamics do not help to make it feel any lighter than its nearly three-tonne kerb weight. Not an issue on the motorway, but it could be unnerving around town for unexperienced drivers.
