Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV GLB 220 d 4Matic AMG Line Premium (7 seats) 8G-Tronic auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I was looking for a 7 seater SUV. I have driven VWs and BMWs before and wanted to try something different. Skoda had long delivery times for Kodiaq and were not interested in me at all. I stumbled upon this one and liked the looks.
I test drove, loved it and the specs, and got a good deal from local Mercedes-Benz. It looks impressive (not to everyone’s taste I admit, though I have received only positive comments including once on the road when a driver in the next lane in a stop asked me to roll down the window and told me it really looked good) and like a baby G63 or GLS. This is my first automatic (I have always preferred manual - I am old perhaps) and has responsive automatic gearbox, plenty of power and good road grip. It is a 4Matic and did really well in all this winters snow and sludge (I was not expecting it). The third row of seat has been reported as for kids but it is not the case.
Anyone 168cm or below will be fine. The second row has plenty of leg space and can be slid slightly forwards. This gives adequate leg room for an hour or two journeys for the third row passengers. Also the third row is raised (it has taller body) which means your knees won’t be ending in your stomach and you will have it adequate headroom. Believe me it’s better than all SUVs in this wheelbase and class. I have averaged 50mpg on motorway and 38.9mpg in town (which is my main driving). The infotainment systems is very good though not very easy to get used to as there are plenty of options. There is lots of tech and it takes time getting used to. So far I have not had any issues with this car.
I have driven it about couple of thousand miles so far without any problems at all. I don’t know if this experience will change so I will update if allowed here. There are a few things in build and finish which could be better (the plastic wheel/body arches quality and some interior stuff). Overall this is a very good car and I will recommend it, if you like the looks try it.
How reliable do you find the car?
