Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class (2015 - 2022) GLC 250 4Matic Urban Edition 9G-Tronic 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Overall, and not thinking too hard about cost of ownership, I’ve enjoyed this car. It’s not for hooning around but for making safe comfortable progress, and it does that well. The elevated driving position, driver aids and switchable modes make for a cosseted environment for a variety of driving entertainment. The auto box works well and tiptronic paddles allow you to take manual control whenever necessary. Dynamically I have no doubt that there are alternatives that may be better and/or less expensive, but driving an MB gives a degree of brand reassurance that others cannot. However the costs of such pleasure is high and personally I have reflected on the amounts involved, especially whilst the car has been sat on the drive for most of the last year. COVID is not MB’s fault, but the depreciation hasn’t felt like value for money. In summary, had I had good use of this car I would be delighted and look to replace with the same - but I’d certainly go for a diesel next time!
How reliable do you find the car?
The Collision Avoidance System, whilst undoubtedly a major safety feature, is not infallible and has false-sensed gateposts and parked vehicles quite frequently, and at least once emergency-braked unnecessarily, which was alarming. Almost from day-one the EML has been continuously illuminated, as it was in my previous MB, even though the car’s function and performance is unaffected, so I simply ignore it.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Very comfortable and has been totally reliable, which you’d expect from a brand new premium car. Boot not deep enough for a golf bag so rear seat has to be lowered.About their car
