Mercedes-Benz M-Class (2012 - 2015) ML250 2.2 CDi BlueTEC Sport 5d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This car had various problems during the 3.25 years I owned it. Literally as soon as I sat in it I realised that the driver's seat was loose, and there were rattles coming from numerous points in the cockpit. That also took various visits to the dealership, and though they gave me a courtesy car whilst they fixed the problems, this was typically a C class at best, when I had paid top dollar to drive an ML.
The list of faults within the first two years included : • Squeaky front seat (required multiple visits to resolve) • Squeaky passenger seat • Loose trim on the passenger side • Parking sensor malfunction • Radiator leaking • Seat belt pre-tension failure • Driver's heated mirror not working (had to report twice before a fault was acknowledged) • Engine warning light illuminated - 'stop driving immediately'
Each of these required at least one visit to the dealership, with much inconvenience to me, having to rearrange customer meetings to ensure the car got to the dealer.
The most problematic fault was where the car would intermittently stall and the engine throbbed as if I was driving a 15 year old Transit van. The problem occurred at various times, including when I was trying to join the traffic on a busy roundabout! This took literally weeks to resolve, with the car being kept in the garage for over one week. I was also unimpressed by the service I received from the dealership, with little communication and my having to keep prompting them to progress the fault. The situation was so bad I was considering rejecting the car as unfit for purpose. I was only able to get any progress on this by escalating the problem to Mercedes Europe.
In short, not only would I not own an ML again, I will never own a Mercedes again. I have never had a car that spent so long in the dealership garage.
The car was a huge disappointment to me, my previous cars include a Volvo XC90 and a BMW x5, neither had any problems.
How reliable do you find the car?
From day 1 I had problems with this car. As soon as I sat in it I realised the driver's seat was loose and that there were various pieces of trim that were loose and rattling, not what I would expect from Mercedes 'quality'.About their car
