Summary
What does this car say about you?
Family oriented.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They probably think we have a large car like this because we often transport a harp in it, but we bought one well before, we just like the space, speed, economy and comfort.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely it looks good it is 4x4 but does not look like an off road vehicle and also does not look like an estate or a people mover, it looks like a different MPV.
What are you likely to buy next?
If R class never comes back in its form probably a G-class or a Toyota amazon.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£35,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought it over the phone, got a very good deal because for whatever reason this car seems unpopular. for us it is the best family car and it looks cool & different from anything on the road (but not ugly!).
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Largest estate on the market that does not look like a Chelsea tractor. Shame they stopped making it!
What was the dealer like?
Very polite & professional. Mercedes dealership from Kings Lynn they came to our house to deliver our 10 reg and pick up our older 06 R class.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It seems to not move due to its size but when you look at the speedo you are actually going fast. Rather amazing. It is also surprisingly economical, we easily get 30+ mpg which for a tank-size car is good.
What's it like to park?
If we did not have beepers front and back and a very nice and soft power steering it would be like driving a transit van. but the goodies help. You can't hide needing a 5m+ space to park, it is as long as two Smart cars! (but so is any other people mover).

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes, we had to replace the turbos but we go to an independent mechanic who specialises in mercs. Brilliant prices also for servicing so we feel it costs us like any normal car not merc prices.
What's most practical about your car?
Space, we never have to think how to pack our cases if we travel by car! just take an extra one.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
We bought this edition because of the incorporated DVD screens in the back. What a bonus for long trip with children.
