Mercedes-Benz S-Class (99-05) rivals
Overview
This S-Class looks sleekly poised and is less of a heavyweight than the previous model, though it has retained its imposing identity and presence. Thanks to the Active Body Control system the handling is sharpened up so much that the old car feels stodgy by comparison. The big Mercedes has shed some pounds (though not in price) and has been revitalised and almost reinvented in the process.
Enthusiastic drivers may still prefer the leaner and sportier-looking BMW 7-Series, but this more dynamic S-Class is every bit as imposing.
