What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 38 - 70 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

With improved residuals the new SLK looks a better all-round prospect. It is still relatively expensive to run, service and insure but average fuel economy is better and CO2 emissions have been reduced. The best on fuel economy is the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY which will return 43.5mpg when mated to an automatic gearbox.
The SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY emits 151g/km of CO2 emissions. To find out the current showroom tax and annual road tax costs, go to Parkers road tax calculator.
The second generation was largely problem-free and we expect that this third generation will be much the same.
