Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster (1996 - 2004) 230K 2d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
After coming from a BMW Z3 of a newer year I was expecting much of the same but with perhaps an extra bell or whistle here and there.
Wow. Wrong.
1. The roof is a thing of engineering excellence. 2. The auto box (my first auto; was dreading this) is unbelievably solid and with few exceptions does exactly what I want it to do. The only downside is that it clings to high revs immediately after driving hard and takes 5 or so seconds to realise you want it to calm down again. 3. This thing weighs as much as a tank but is QUICK. Not supercar killing territory obviously but impressive nonetheless at 28-32 MPG. 4. My car came with a factory fit body kit and a custom made Remus exhaust designed for the 230; sounds lovely and highly recommended if you can find one second hand. 5. The car may be 18 years old now but aside from the SLK rust (Treated by previous owner) its gleaming after a solid polish. 6. I bought this car on a T reg, for £1600 with 68K on the clocks verified by Mercedes and with partial but recent Mercedes service history. Bargain of the Century award is coming through the post soon! =]
Compared to my poor Z3 this car is better built, higher quality in 99% of aspects and looks just as gorgeous. Its a hairdressers car, sure.
But I don't mind looking fabulous!
