  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

    Not quite sure!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Most like it but my wife's intimidated by it - particularly the long bonnet and auto box (she only likes manuals).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not as I tend to change cars quite a bit and although it looks great and goes well, the day-to-day practicality (or lack thereof) is sometimes a bit of a compromise. Can't fault the car for this - just personal.

What are you likely to buy next?

Who knows? Count my pennies and see what's out there.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Fair market price for a two-owner car. Non-MB service history but low mileage and good condition - save for tyres.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Always quite fancied one of these. Impulse purchase.

    What was the dealer like?

Fine - fairly typical of the breed.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Sun out, roof down - great fun. Corners flat and fast. Fast but doesn't feel that fast but it's very deceptive. Great sound from the V6 engine and twin exhausts. Can be prone to some creaking and the odd rattle on poor roads - common issue I have found. Not a pure driver's car (like a Boxster).

    What's it like to park?

Not the easiest but you soon get used to it.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. New tyres. Poor radio reception but I understand this is quite a common complaint on this model. Why MB marketed a premium price sports car with a lousy radio is open to question.

What's most practical about your car?

You don't buy one of these for practicality. That being said, the boot is better than I thought it might be and can take a couple of good overnight bags plus some other bits. A bit challenging for a long touring holiday though.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Vario roof I guess.
