Mercedes-Benz V-Class V230 Ambiente 5d Auto (1998/S) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Expensive to buy for what is basically a van with nice seats.
Costs
The cost of running this car is not a problem, if you happen to run your own petrol company. Luckily I have managed to find a dealer outside the franchised network to service my vehicle at pretty good rates, £147 inc for standard service not bad.

On the road
Driving
Good visibility, parking can be difficult due to turning circle. Uninspiring to drive.
Performance
If you want sporty, buy a sports car. This car is surprisingly quick in a straight line but engine noise harsh with it, approach roundabouts with caution.

Living with it
Reliability
Mechanically sound but there is not one thing electrical that hasn't had a problem, alarm packed up, hence ease of break in. At this moment no rear speakers, wash wipe, heater, c/l packed up, the list is endless first name terms with garage
Image
This car has fantastic presence on the road see galxay drivers stare as you pass, but they wont realise the misery on your face as you wait for next failure of something electrical. My kids love this car but they don't have to pay for repairs.
Comfort
This is a car to be DRIVEN IN not driven. With the seats facing each other, front legroom is poor at best, but the large picnic table is a blessing. Kids love it though and there's still room for shopping.

Security and Service
Security
I didn't think security was going to be a problem with immobiliser and alarm (see reliability), but someone broke in with nothing less than a small screwdriver.
Service
once i found a good dealer outside franchise bills halved.
