MG Motor UK MG3 (2013 - 2024) 1.5 VTi-TECH 3Style 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I think it’s worth saying a few words as an owner as this car is easily maligned and dismissed by those who write for a living and I know I don’t own the rivals so I can’t compare. However I can give an honest and objective view of ownership .
This car is better than you’d be expected to believe. It’s faults are minor and I doubt any car can claim perfection and that’s a good start. Let’s deal with faults quickly. The engine whilst powerful lies hardly energetic and could be described as lazy. If you enjoy car with zip and zest it’s a shame as it’s not here. It is however capable and easy to drive. The heater controls are poorly laid out and consequently hard to use when driving. It should be a dial but it’s buttons which is very hard to use when you are concentrating. Likewise the vent controller is via a dial and again needs your attention to operate . Set your temperature before you start off is the recommendation. The dab radio is excellent quality but the menu system is absurdly difficult to operate and I never remember how to get back in. All simple stuff but infuriating. The clock is not quartz locked so it does lose time. Second gear is too short so I’m often going from first to third instead. The car is often criticised for cheap plastics but I don’t get this point as it all seems acceptable to me. As I said the the car is neither sporty nor economical so it treads a careful middle ground of capable all rounder. On to the good stuff, I use it for motorways and commutes short and long and it does genuinely fit the bill for both. Neither too small and weedy nor too large and thirsty. It’s been incredibly reliable so far and a joy to use daily. I like the usb port on the dash locker. Great idea. And ideal for phone charging and sat nav use. Buy one with confidence and. Enjoy it. Just don’t expect it to be sporty or an eco car as it’s neither but it is a really good car.
