MG Motor UK MG3 1.5 VTi-TECH 3Style Lux (Start Stop) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I have had the MG3 for just over 2 years and it has too many faults for my liking. The engine is underpowered until you get into the high rev range. The windows constantly mist up and you can't de-mist without the air con which also has a massive effect on the engine power and kills it. It cuts out when driving because of a known fault with the software controlling the eco mode (start stop). The clutch shudders when pulling off, it leaks water through the drivers door. The MPG is woeful at around 30-35mpg. Those saying they are getting 40 plus must be driving on the flat motorway everywhere, under normal driving there's no way you can get 40+ MPG out of this car. At the end of the day it is a cheap ish car and they have got them into the market with really good 0% finance deals but it's just not a good car, I have had many cars and I really don't like this car, I would rather drive my 53plate Hyundai Getz!!
How reliable do you find the car?
The car has a serious problem in that when driving it occasionally just cuts out, obviously this affects the steering etc and is dangerous. Just picked it back up from the local dealer and basically they can't do anything until MG sort out the software, it's something to do with the eco mode. Not good! Also the clutch is juddery when pulling off, the windscreen won't the-most unless the air con is on and this affects the engine power and economy in a big way.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
On motorways with the engine revving it's not too bad, around town it's awful, noisy and you feel every bump in the road. The MPG is woeful, the claims of 50+ MPG are basically a lie, my MPG meter shows an average MPG of 30 over the 15000 miles covered.About their car
