  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Good value for money, but not great. It is one of the more affordable sports cars in its class, but their is not much to the car other than engine and body shell. No ABS, standard radio etc. Go for the VVC for more extra's for about the same price.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

This car is very economical due to its light weight. In terms of servicing, keep it away from mainstream MG dealers. Go for sports car or MG specialists.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

This car is a joy to drive, with being a mid engine car you really get to feel the car through the bends. I would have given this a 5, but you really do need to be careful in the wet.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

The performance is more than adequate for a car of this cost, and it will certainly keep 90% of boy racers off your back. It feels great when accelerating through the lanes from 0-60. But does sometimes feel a little light 70+.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

I had to replace the head gasket at 40,000 miles which I was not best pleased at. Other than that, no problems after driving it 15,000 miles from 33,000 miles when i bought it second hand.

Mixed opinions really, no doubting the car is stunning. But I think it looks cute more than it does mean.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

I am 6""3, and this is one of the most comfortable cars I have been in. I managed to drive 6+ hours to Newquay with little discomfort. I suppose MG could have been a little more generous with leg room.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Standard Immobilizer, car alarm with interior sensors for when the roof is down. Good overall.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Not impressed with MG dealers, overpriced and i doubt their competence. I had to pay £125 for a full electrical diagnostic because the SRS light stayed on. This did not solve the problem, found out it was a silly sensor getting caught under drivers seat.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Head gasket blew after 44,000 miles. Not happy about that.

    Other

Had to have sensor replaced on brake pedal because brake light kept on staying on. SRS light kept on coming on, but just due to sensor getting caught under drivers seat.
