MG F 1.8i VVC 2d (1998/R) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
A lot of car and performance for the money.
Costs
Cam belt change pricey and laughable Rover servicing costs and parts for what is really a parts bin special.
-
On the road
Driving
Steering fairly heavy, but quick to respond. Need to keep suspension 'pumped' up - as can make bumps harsh.
Performance
VVC is a great, revvy little engine that just wants to give more.

Living with it
Reliability
No major problems, although a pressure wash caused £800 worth of damage - ECU got saoked through the air vents! Expensive mistake.
Image
Unfairly judged as girly - good driver's car and mid engine gives the car a fun personality.
Comfort
For a small convertible, can provide a big ride.
-
Security and Service
Security
Plastic back window to easy to get into. Immobilised as standard, though.
