MG F 1.8i VVC 2d (1998/R) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Poor 645 depreciation in 20 months.
Costs
If it were only parts and servicing, but every time anything goes wrong they have to whip off the cylinder head.
-
On the road
Driving
Fun to drive, when it works, although cornering is not easy with the mid engine.
Performance
Great acceleration - a great drive - when it's not in the garage.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Three cylinder head removals in 55k miles - what do you think? MG Rover diagnostics are non-existant, so don't buy this if you want reliablility.
Image
Cool if you only drive a couple of miles a week in dry weather.
Comfort
Hard, but that's how it should be.

Security and Service
Security
Never had a problem.
Service
Dire - The dealership only make any money when they are removing the cylinder head - they can't even diagnose a fault - and as for MG Rover - they couldn't care less - they got their sale and now the consumer can pay, pay, pay.
