MG F (1995 - 2002) 1.8i VVC Trophy (160ps) 2d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
No surprise that the MGF was the most popular small sports car in its day, comfortably out-selling its foreign rivals.
A real driver's car, the Trophy 160 puts a smile on my face every time I take it out - which is all year round (I have a hardtop for winter). Fantastic road-holding in dry and wet conditions - but snow and ice best avoided.
No problems with servicing or parts - but choose your MG specialist/dealer carefully and ensure they have a working MG Rover diagnostic unit. I use the MG Owners' Club Workshop at Swavesey, and I'm really pleased with their high standards.
Forget all the stories of head gasket and electrical problems - these have long been sorted, especially in 21st century cars.
A friend of mine has a BMW Z-series. Comparing the MGF with the BMW is like comparing Usain Bolt with a pot-bellied Bavarian beer-drinker.............
The Trophy 160s are going up in price so try one now and you won't be disappointed !
How reliable do you find the car?
Essential to choose a service outlet with a proper MG Rover diagnostic machine. Others won't pick up minor problemsDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
Fantastic driving - but make sure the suspension is sorted by your MG Rover dealer/specialist.About their car
