In their own words

This MG is a fascinating case study in all that is good and bad in buying from a relatively new Chinese brand in 2024.

On the plus side, the car is comparatively cheap and you get a lot for your money. Big screen, nice interior, great warranty, lots of cabin space and equipment. interior materials could easily be mistaken for a much more expensive car.. If you look at this car in a showroom you could be fooled in to thinking it's up to German quality.

However... compared to more established Korean and European brands, the MG lacks that final level of engineering rigor and execution which makes ownership quickly frustrating. Specifically:

1. The power delivery is super lumpy at low speed making it very hard to pull away smoothly. This is paired with a slow witted gearbox which often takes a while to find the right gear.
2. The seats look comfortable but a recent 5 hours road trip left me with a very sore and numb behind.
3. Fuel economy is poor for its class.
4. The infotainment is big and bright, but the firmware is frustrating in its logic. For example, when you plug in Apple CarPlay you have to click through various menus to turn it back on. Similar menus are needed for heated seats. The audio eq isn't great either but, then it's not in many cars.
