Summary
What does this car say about you?
Nowadays, probably that you are an MG enthusiast as there are plenty of alternatives. Probably says that you are more of an individual and less of a "hairdresser" than an MX5 does.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Love the styling, but think that the engine sound at low revs/tick-over is underwhelming (comments such as sounds noisy, not powerful).
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, I plan to keep this one but already have decided that I would replace it with another if I had to. I still resent selling my old MR2, especially as these have risen in price by over £5,000 since I did. The MG TF is almost certainly also destined for the "practical classics" market.
What are you likely to buy next?
No intention to change, and would find it hard to source a more practical 2-seat proper sports car if I did.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£795
When did you buy the car?
November 2015
Did you get a good deal and why?
Very much so. The dealer had just dropped the price from £1,600 as they had missed the summer sales window for convertibles and wanted to move it.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Styling - and wanting an MG.
What was the dealer like?
Standard dealer, possibly on the upper honesty part of the scale.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Not the fastest, being a 1.6l engine, but nippy-enough for legal road use. Nailed to the road on corners, although choice of tyres is important with mid-engined cars. Nice position, although the centre console is hard against the left leg of taller drivers (I'm 6'2").
What's it like to park?
Really easy to park.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Alternator and battery needed sorting (as the car had been little-used by the last owners this was expected).
What's most practical about your car?
Comfortable to drive, easy to park and with a pretty generous boot size for this type of car (second only to the Mk1 MR2 I used to own).
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Very few gadgets as it is a simple car in most respects - but the hard top is a great option for winter use and general styling.
