• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Its not so much what it says, its how it makes you feel- 18 years old again. they are small, easy to park, get though gaps, easy to loose as they are low and difficult to spot in a crowded car-park!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They can see its a fun toy as I'm always doing stuff to it. It gets used more that my 'proper car'. I love working on cars and prefer to want to do it than have to do it. these cars are British and although no longer made- there is a wealth of knowledge form various enthusiasts sites. They are good cars to cut your teeth on maintaining. They are cheap and a joy to drive during the summer and ok during the winter providing you buy a hard-top.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No hesitation- yes, Id have a few of them if i could get any with it. Nostalgia, Patriotism- ails from a time when we British made cars! Cheap 2nd car.

What are you likely to buy next?

Ive just brought a Ranger Rover Sport low milage- so Ive no plans to change either of my cars- the RRS is great on a long journey but the MGTF is easier to park when I got to football each week at various non-league grounds.

I paid peanuts (£1500.00) for a 13 year old car that originally cost £20k.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Its a bumpy ride due to sports suspension but providing you negotiate potholes- its a gentle, sports-car type ride. You are constantly reminded that theres an 1.8 twin-cam VVC engine behind your seat.

    What's it like to park?

As you are low down and with a hard top on- easy. With the soft on, visibility is limited as the rear screen is smaller. With the roof down on a hot day- like parking a go-cart!

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Only an exhaust system- which I knew it needed when I brought it.

What's most practical about your car?

Its a 2-seater and so you don't have to take unecessary baggage. Its easy to park and doesn't take up much room. Its got a decent-sized boot at back and some storage in front as there is no-spare wheel (just a get-you-home tyre inflation system in a box).

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Open Road! My one is a T160 with the VVC engine- it revs to 7200 rpm and will show most teenagers a clean set of heals.
