Economy
Value
The value half's as soon as you leave the forecourt. The ZR is very poorly made and designed, so there will be endless problems with all the parts. It will cost thousands when the warranty expires. Look beyond the bodykit.
Costs
When the warranty runs out and you have to pay for a new engine due to the head gasket blowing, constant loud rattles, leaking sunroofs, de laminating badges, faulty demisters so you cant see, constant loud rattle 'repairs' - it's expencive

On the road
Driving
If you can hear the engine over the rattles, then you dont have a zr. The ZR handles well, but only because of simple modifications like large wheels and sports suspention. which can be added to any car. The driving position is truly auful
Performance
The old rover 200 1.6 i is quicker, cheaper, and rattles less. The handling on the zr is good, due to large wheels and sports suspention. Buy these parts for any car and have less agrivation, and more money

Living with it
Reliability
The head gasket will blow and you will need to buy a new engine costing 0000's. Everything else will leak, rattle, creek, fall off, and de-laminate. The longbridge plant has been renouned for bad workmanship for decades, and nothing has changed.
Image
Chav / Scally / Kev / Townie / low end boy racers car. If only they looked beyond the body kit. Peter Stevens should design the looks of decent cars not 20 year old rover designs. People see past the plastic otherwise it would look good.
Comfort
The driving position is among the worst out there, its far too high. the seats are comfy but you look ten feet tall so most people slouch. The instrument layout is 20 years out of date.and its tacky plastic. The aluminium coloured plastic is comical.

Security and Service
Security
the alarm is loud enough, however they are easly broken into. The car thievs have more sence than to nick one. as the police will follow the rattles and find them.
Service
Rover service is notoriously bad, most are rude, unprofesional, and wont do the work there paid to. There nice when there selling one however.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
The head gasket WILL blow. and it will drink oil, then leak it all over the drive. The K series is notoriously unreliable. Check the oil daily or buy a new engine.
Other
Don't buy one. Learn from my mistake. Its a rover 200 with a body kit. With added rattles that can be heared over loud music. look at as many reviews as possible. As Clarkson put it, ' The MGZR chasis is based on a brontosauraus'
