Value
In the price range not much compares. Alternatives are bargain basement Ford Focus', Astra's, Ibiza's etc. Not really the same sort of thing.
Costs
Servicing seems very reasonably priced?

Driving
Despite the grumblings of the motoring press, its got it where it counts - very responsive (in all directions), excellent feedback. Feels like hot hatches used to be, which is a good thing compared to the bloated electronic jellymoulds of today.
Performance
Very surprising. Its got plenty of engine for the size of car, and although not the most refined at low speeds is very strong indeed - again, much faster than similar Focus, Astra, Ibiza. Compares with Seat Leon 130TD but £5K less!

Reliability
Too early to tell, but its a well proven design (to put it politely), and how many rusty ZR/25's do you see about? Interior quality isn't amazing - comparable to Peugeot i'd say (which isn't really a compliment). Some trim items look tenuously attached.
Image
Black/Anthracite calms the body kit down a bit, and the 'straights' alloy wheels are quite nice. Its quite boy racer, but I don't mind it.
Comfort
Bucket type seats quite nice. Again, ignore the motoring press, i'm 6'3"" and I fit in it just fine! Fairly small rear seats I suppose, but its a fairly small car.
