Only the V6 counts as a true sportster, but needs hard revving. ZS 120 is a warm – rather than a hot – alternative. Others in the range are adequate and much cheaper to fuel and insure. Low down punch of the TD115 diesel (yes that’s right, a diesel in an MG) is good fun on twisty roads.
Stiff suspension means it’s a bumpy ride down the backroads, but ultimately rewarding. Steering is superb, brakes good. Nothing like a Rover 45. Top models may be too harsh around town for some tastes.
