Summary
What does this car say about you?
At the time I thought it said I was different (as it had funky stickers on and looked like no other MINI), but now I realise it just says you follow trends, you don't lead them.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They liked it, but they didn't have to drive it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. For what is sold as a quality bit of kit and was at the time both young and low mileage, the quality was awful. I sold it within 3 months for an older (03) MR2 and have had nearly a year of trouble free, fast motoring.
What are you likely to buy next?
A new shape (2010 -) MX-5

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,995
When did you buy the car?
September 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
No. Not really the dealer's fault. MINIs are just bad value for money.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I needed a fast car to do more Motorway/A road work.
What was the dealer like?
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good. Let down by the ropey Getrag geabox and agricultural engine, which (although fast) is not a quality bit of engineering.
What's it like to park?
Easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Clutch plate failed (£1,200 quote to fix) Warning light for supercharger kept coming on. Rear hub used to thud round corners (no solution found by dealer)
What's most practical about your car?
Nothing. It was cheaper, quicker and more enjoyable to walk.
