Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 41 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

While the CZT can be an affordable used buy, it falls into insurance group 15, which is likely to put off many – the next highest insurance group in the Colt range is group six. It’s also difficult to match the claimed fuel consumption figure of 42mpg and even slightly quick driving will see this plummet to 30mpg. Parts and servicing are also relatively expensive.
For a relatively high performance small car, the CZT is pretty economical, averaging 42mpg. Emissions of 161g/km of CO2 mean it’s not too expensive to tax either.
The Colt CZT has proved a reliable sporty hatch. It comes with an unlimited mileage warranty showing that Mitsubishi has much confidence in the car, plus it’s never been subject to a recall.
