Summary
What does this car say about you?
That you don't default to the obvious choice and like something different. When did you last see one? More to do with appalling Mitsubishi promotion rather than any fault of the car though!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
"What is that?! Doesn't it look snazzy".
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably not but only because I never by the same car twice. Would recommend it to others though.
What are you likely to buy next?
Who knows? Only had this car 4 months

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£5,995
When did you buy the car?
April 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Deal was good because price had dropped £2500 in a year after languishing on dealers forecourt. We paid exactly what the dealer paid for it in part exchanged themselves. However they offset some of their loss by an ungenerous p/ex allowance on our existing car.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
To replace aging Punto and also because garage dropped price down and down after having the car nearly a year (presumably due to greedy original price). Always liked the Colt anyway and the deal was too good to pass on
What was the dealer like?
So-so and a bit too matter of fact. Spent longer talking about Gap insurance and the dreaded Diamond Brite paint treatment. Very much a case of "do you want the car or not?" but we overlooked this in view of the price.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great. Zippy performance, secure handling, good steering (even if a bit dead when at centre), compliant ride, very strong brakes, light clutch and smooth gearchange. Fairly loud engine and road noise peak about 55mph and can get a little tiresome but increase over 60mph and it gets quieter again. Crunching reverse gear when cold well documented elsewhere.
What's it like to park?
Good. Vertical boot makes reversing easy but bonnet just disappears from site so forward parking can involve some blind faith at times.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Drivers seat height adjuster failed and seat lowered itself everyday but a common problem and fixed within 20 minutes under warranty. Passengers seatbelt sensor very sensitive - if you put anything other than featherweight on it the seat it thinks someone is sitting there and the belt warning light keeps bleeping!
What's most practical about your car?
Interior space like a tardis, sliding rear seats, huge windscreen for good visibility, excellent range of seat adjustments
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Instruments that glow green after dark.
