Mitsubishi Galant Estate 2.5 V6-24 5d Auto (AC) (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Fantastic used buy due to heavy depreciation.
Costs
Servicing costs generally very fair, but the 54,000 mile 'major service' is a bit heavy (dealer did warn me of this when I asked before purchasing).

On the road
Driving
Fantastic engine. Runs at a whisper when taking it easy, but howls like a racer when you press on at a pace.
Performance
Generally very good as compared with rival VW, Volvo etc. Steering needs more feel and front suspension gets ragged when pushed hard. Happiest when wafting along or when pushing hard on good surfaces.

Living with it
Reliability
Generally excellent except for recurring (and well known) problem with front discs warping. Have been skimmed twice, but still judder when very hot.
Image
Brand isn't aspirational, but you have relative rarity/exclusivity and it is a wicked looking estate car.
Comfort
Very comfortable for long hauls, excellent self-levelling suspension when laden. Too much wind and road noise at speed for a car in this class.

Security and Service
Security
Replaced rubbish (UK importer fitted) original alarm with aftermarket immobiliser.
Service
