Mitsubishi Shogun (2007 - 2018) 3.2 DI-DC SG4 5d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
Loved the car at first having owned Discovery's in the past and they were getting less workman like. We needed a truck to look good and tow horses whilst good off road. Drives well for a big truck with plenty of go, maybe not as settled on the road as a Disco.
After only owning for 4 months the head gasket went at a cost of £1600. Then 2 months later the 4 wheel drive propshaft went, the Discovery propshaft used to go every two years but was a harvey spicer and cost no more than £100 to repair. The Shogun has a solid propshaft and we needed a whole new shaft from Japan, it had also broken two wires and sensors at £200 each, quoted £1600 again. The garage got it welded in the end and we didn't replace sensors so had a bill of £600. 9 months and 2000 miles (62000) later the head gasket went again, Mitsubishi have taken responsiblity and say they will pay for the repair, regardless how can we trust this car? We would have likely stuck with Shoguns as we like the car in lots of ways but have to go elsewhere now. Dissapointed as good farm/country trucks are hard to come by.
How reliable do you find the car?
Head gasket went at 59,000 miles, replaced by main dealer genuine parts for a cost of £1600. 2000 miles later driving in France it has gone again, Mitsubishi have said they will cover the parts under warranty. We've had to leave the car in France for over a month and return by plane.About their car
