Nissan 200 SX 2.0 Touring 2d Auto (1998/R) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
For the money (second-hand), nothing comes close.
Costs
Thirsty, with frequent service intervals. Nissan part extortionate. Can easily turn into a money pit if you start modifying.
-
On the road
Driving
A superb driver's car, but be very careful in the wet.
Performance
Fast as standard. Free flowing exhaust and filter plus a boost controller turns it into a supercar.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Generally good. Fuel pump, turbo gaskets and intercooler pipework will all need fixing between 60-100k. Regular oil and filter changes are crucial.
Image
I love the looks, and only enthusiasts know what the car is, which is great.
Comfort
Comfy in the front, with all the toys you need. Good sized boot, too.
-
Security and Service
Security
Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted as standard. Anonymity and rarity helps, too.
Service
I have only used specialists for servicing. Helpful owner's club.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Blowing turbo gaskets. VVT sprocket rattles on start-up, but this is normal, and nothing to worry about
Other
Headlamp washers and aircon have both packed up.
