Nissan Almera Hatchback 1.4 Si 5d (1996/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value when compared to Golfs, Escorts etc. Great stereo.
Costs
Cheap to buy, insure, refuel and service: unfortunately, depreciation is high.

On the road
Driving
Great handling and brakes inspire confidence to chuck it around. Watch out when it's wet though!
Performance
Fairly underpowered, but a 1.4 Golf is worse. It has to be revved hard to get decent poke. No torque, so doesn't like hills. Still, it can do more than the official max 105mph!

Living with it
Reliability
The car's strongest point. Nothing has gone wrong in the 2 years I've had it.
Image
You wouldn't be reading this if you were that bothered! Get colour-coded model (like the Si) as base models look grim. GTi looks the part, though.
Comfort
Quiet, refined, comfortable sports seats, but spoiled by harsh ride over speed bumps.

Security and Service
Security
Has the best theft deterrant; the Nissan Almera badge on the back!
Service
Cheap, friendly, but marred by dealer losing service book.
