Summary
What does this car say about you?
Thanks to Nissan's poor PR effort, and the shambles from the Almera 1.5 dCi, it is not great. But, if you want to get more of a car for the same money, this is a no brainer.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Not much --- just another Almera that they have seen for the 10th time on a typical day...
Would you buy this car again and why?
Nissan had killed all their hatchbacks in 2006 except Note and Cube. However, I will definitely buy it again if time can go back to yr 2005.
What are you likely to buy next?
Unlikely a Nissan --- 2.2 dCi (2005) design came from Japan but no longer used, and the Renault's dCi 178 will never be in a Note / Cube.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,200
When did you buy the car?
February 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
It was ok and was not the cheapest at the time.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Originally aimed at VW Golf TDi but the money would have got myself a nearly 8yr old basic TDi, which my friends had various of problems with their 7 or 8 yr Golf. Found a 6yr old more powerful Almera, test drove it, and bought it straight away despite of high mileage because it was very good.
What was the dealer like?
New business and it was ok.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Surprisingly nice and capable on motorway --- Not great with bends/corners. Pretty fast as a family 5dr hatchback, although it can't quite match with the BMW 120d but not overly difficult to overtake a Golf GT TDi 130.
What's it like to park?
Parking sensors were useless. Not great but I've had worse.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Slave cylinder was leaking --- after a bit of YouTube, a set of stubby spanners, 30 min of my time and a new slave cylinder, it was all sorted. This is a popular car and relatively easy to get information on the Internet.
What's most practical about your car?
Size --- A hatch back with a good size boot.
