Nissan Almera Saloon 1996-
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Bought this for the equivalent of £2500 in 2000 and have had it for 4 years now. It had 72k miles then and has 148k miles now. Still looks like it will last forever.

Reconditioned the starter at 95k miles, replaced back shocks after 130k miles only after I carried to many floor tiles in the back seat. I service it myself every 10k miles or so which costs me £20 a go. Front brake pads replaced x3,back pads still going.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

This car is actually a 1995 GX 1.4. Quite a decent drive. Handles very well, comfortable with 3 passengers but when you load it up you know that you are carrying a load.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Great handling, nice amount of power for a 1.4, still getting 45 miles/gallon at 148k miles on the clock.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Cannot fault the reliability of this car, I cannot dream of car in the world with less maintenance costs.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

It looked grand in 1995 but maybe not a very stylish look for 2005 but it floats my boat.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good comfort for a small family i.e. 2.2 children, 3 adults in the back seat at a squash and quite a bumpy ride carrying that amount of people.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

No alarm, just an immobiliser. Drivers lock is sticking (i.e. key won't lock or unlock but it can be locked manually from inside of car) now so must oil it.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

As garages go, I got a great car and got a comprehensive first service so that's ok. I have not been back there since.
