Nissan Micra 1.0 GSX 3d (1988/F) Owner Review

Economy
Value
You can pick these up for next to nothing now - but try and avoid rusty models - the expense of getting that fixed is more than the car is worth. Cheap to run, cheap insurance, cheap bits.
Costs
Much cheapness, keep the maintenance up (oil, lubes, etc) and you shouldn't have any surprises. Parts are cheap and there are loads of these in the scrap yards.

On the road
Driving
It's small and nimble, but doesn't like to corner fast. Tiny wheels and poor suspension make the rideā¦ 'interesting'.
Performance
Acceleration is great for a 1l car, but don't try and corner at speed - poor suspension makes it a death defying feat - economical on petrol though.

Living with it
Reliability
Look after it, change the oil and it should be good to go for aeons.
Image
If you are image conscious then either buy something else, or wear a stocking over your head - this is the equivalent of paisley flares and mullet.
Comfort
Basic car, basic comfort (I don't sit in the back and I don't car about my passengers having no legroom - make friends with amputees if you want anyone in the back).

Security and Service
Security
This car has security features? The locks are poor, I'd imagine that my 5 year old could break the steering lock. If you get one of these invest in either a couple of meters of steel chain and chain the driver seat to the steering wheel.
Service
Bought privately - no dealings with Nissan.
