Nissan Micra 1.2 Suntop 3d (1990/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Cheap to buy and run, although has lost value since I bought it.
Costs
About 240 miles on a full tank if you push it. I've had 320 out of it. Service can get expensive. Parts from Nissan are EXPENSIVE, as is labour. Best to get parts from places like ATS.

On the road
Driving
Nice to drive. Handles very well for small old car. Watch for understeer due to knackered front suspension or tracking, as this spoils the ride and makes cornering less than trustworthy.
Performance
Engine Revs really well. If you push HARD it will move, but doesn't do the engine any favours. Top speed is around 90, down a hill, with the wind behind you, full throttle.

Living with it
Reliability
If driven sensibly, it will keep on going and going. If not, wave goodbye. Check suspension and exhaust. If misfiring, best bet is new ignition leads, plugs, and dizzy about 30/40 quid all in all.
Image
Not bad looking for an old car. Reminiscent of old Ford Fiesta, only bigger. More suited to women, to be honest.
Comfort
Seats have little bolstering, thus any corner over 50mph and you're falling out of your seat. Back passengers can get cramped, otherwise not bad.

Security and Service
Security
No security devices whatsoever, except locks of course. Not too many people would want to steal it to be honest.
Service
Nissan Banbury have horrendous customer service. Was once conveniently positioned to see a mechanic racing the car up a hill and hand brake turning it when it was in to be serviced. Unimpressed. Very expensive.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Misfiring. Leads had misshapen and were jumping off plugs when firing. Bizzarre! Easily fixed for £20.
Other
Suspension went easily. However, if found in good condition and looked after, EXCELLENT first car.
