Nissan Micra 1.3 3d (SR) (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I'm glad I didn't buy new as I feel £11,010 is a little too much for this car. Maybe justified if Nissan had included ABS as standard, but it was only an option.
Costs
Doesn't need spares too often... good job too, at Nissan prices.

Driving
I've driven faster cars... but the Micra never fails to put a smile on my face.
Performance
0-60 feels a lot quicker than figures suggest. Begs to be revved. On a brief spell on a German Autobahn, kept the speedo in three figures, comfortably for over an hour with no complaints or ill effects. Heavily unsettled by cross winds, though.

Living with it
Reliability
Top draw. Banishes that nagging doubt about starts on frosty mornings. Clutches are quite weak so watch out for that.
Image
To be honest, the image isn't great. It is seen as transport for the elderly although I'm not sure why. If you take a census of Micra owners, it crosses all age ranges and both sexes.
Comfort
Very roomy for a small car. 'Sport' seats offer slightly more side support than regular seats, but are noticeably stiffer. Better than other small cars on long journeys.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser on my model, but could have done with standard alarm as well.
Service
Friendly and receptive... not great at noticing faults, though.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
No problem. Purrs like a well content kitten.
Other
Sunroof sticking. Sorted out by dealer.
