Nissan Micra 1.3 LX 5d (1999/S) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Solid build means it still looks good after almost 8 years. 1.3 may initially be more expensive than basic 1.0 Micra, but the larger engine is worth it.
Costs
Sips fuel and only group 5 insurance. Some slightly dear parts at main dealers but on the whole good.

Driving
Rolls a bit in corners. Cracking gearchange, effective brakes, plus light steering at parking speeds. Great 3rd gear.
Performance
For a small 1.3 car it is brilliant. Powerful 16-valve engine means it never feels out of its depth and it pulls well in low gears.

Living with it
Reliability
Very good for age. Only problems have been a starter motor and brake pipe, outside expected wear and tear.
Image
For those who look deeper than the skin. Initially silly looks grow on you and underneath lies a very good car. Try one and you might be surprised.
Comfort
Good headroom and acceptable rear leg space. Wheel adjusts for height. Seats are alright.

Security and Service
Security
Broken into once. They got in on the third attempt and only by smashing a window. Door structure and locks resisted. Won"t be as good as a more modern car though.
Service
n/a. The car was out of manufacterer warranty when purchased.
