Nissan Micra 1.3 SLX 5d (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A good quality car, but as ours is a top of the range SLX it was quite a bit more pricey than say a 1.0LX
Costs
On the motorway the car is quite thirsty, much better around town. Costs a mere £25 to fill right up of petrol priced at 81.9p

On the road
Driving
Extremely light steering- an ideal learn to drive in car. Very far off a drivers car, but can be mildly fun nipping about town. Hates going above 80mph, unlike a Mazda Demio 1.3 that is more at home in this environment.
Performance
Excellent acceleration around town, see's off most other small cars. Equally good on motorways though it is noisy. Low revving engine was a bad move by Nissan as the car struggles on inclines

Living with it
Reliability
Very reliable indeed, but behind Mazda and Toyota in this respect. Being built in Sunderland reliability isnt quite as 100% as the Japanese. Interior is sturdy though some edges on plastics are poorly finished.
Image
Lacks image, but is well respected for being a reliable small car. Liked by women, either the elderley or young drivers. Looks cute, so people say, but can also look naff depending on condition /colour/ model
Comfort
5 door is more cramped than 3 door. Limited leg room all round. Rear seats are poorly padded, interior trim is gruesome and engine is always raucous. Driving position is too high and seat cannot be adjusted for height. 1.0 model is more refined.

Security and Service
Security
Just an immobiliser- as it's Japanese and not a sports car thankfully it is not on a thieves wishlist
Service
Fairly good, though we don't use Nissan dealers for servicing
