Nissan Micra Hatchback (2003 - 2010) 1.2 SE 5d (2004/04) Owner Review

1.2 SE 5d
  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

That I am of a mature age! I seldom see younger people driving a Micra.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like the appearance of the car and enjoy riding in it as passengers

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would certainly never buy another car with an intelligent key system but I think Nissan has abandoned them anyway! Also, as the dealer who sold the car to me had the dealership taken away from them, the nearest dealer to me now is a little too far away.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not sure - Fiesta, Honda Jazz, VW Polo?

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    June 2004

Did you get a good deal and why?

Probably not a great deal compared with offers available soon after I bought mine - same price with free alloy wheels.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I liked the design; it was a comfortable car with good seats at the right level.

    What was the dealer like?

As time passed, I loathed the dealer. I had terrible problems with the boot lock, compounded by the fact that car had the 'Intelligent Key' system.

    Easy.

  • Living with it

    2 out of 5 2.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The boot lock failed on three occasions within a year of purchase; each time I had a full boot of food shopping (including frozen items. The emergency key cannot be used to open the boot, only the 'intelligent key' (a misnomer if ever there was one!) The dealer was always on the defensive when the boot lock failed and refused to accept on the second or third occasion that there was anything wrong. Eventually Nissan recalled the car as there was a design fault and the lock was replaced. More recently, on returning from holiday I could not get into the car because the battery was flat and the intelligent key would not work. The manual was inside the car and I could not work out how to use the flimsy emergency key and had to call my breakdown company.

What's most practical about your car?

Getting in and out of the car is easy. It's easy to park. It runs quietly and has good acceleration for a small car.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

CERTAINLY NOT THE INTELLIGENT KEY or the radio! Aircon, radio controls on steering wheel, electric windows.
